Another Big Speaker Event!
Tomorrow Prof. Jesus Rodriguez will be giving a speach/lecture!
This event is part of the
Mathematical Careers & Ideas series of talks
and is co-sponsored by Pi Club.
Title: Mathematics of Chance: A brief history of gambling from Monte Carlo to Wall Street
"Games of chance have been around for centuries. We'll discuss how
these games gave birth to modern probability theory, and how these
ideas are used today to protect against risks (as well as take risks!)
on Wall Street. There are no pre-requisites for the talk. Everybody
is invited to come and attempt to win money from the speaker." -Prof Rodriguez
Sorry about the late posting and e-mail about this event.
Big Speaker Event!
Next week Professor Jozsef Beck will be giving a speach/lecture!
Title: Tic-Tac-Toe Theory
"The usual 3-times-3 tic-tac-toe is a very simple game, but there are many exciting generalizations, infinite classes of 'tic-tac-toe like games', which are unsolved." -Prof Beck
Prof Beck has written a book on the subject that will be coming out in a few months so this should be really awesome!
